Board Resolution for Disconnection or Surrender of Electricity

When a company closes any of its offices at any places or sells it off, the company generally also applies to the Electricity Service Provider organisation to disconnect its electricity connection for that place, unless there is a different understanding between the parties in this regard.

In such cases, the electricity company may ask for a copy of board resolution for this purpose.

Following template of board resolution will hopefully be useful to you.

SAMPLE #1

“RESOLVED THAT the Company do apply to the (....name of the electricity company....) for disconnection/ closure/ surrender of the following electricity connection of the company:

           Consumer No.: ..........................

           Billing Unit: ....................

           Address: ..................................................

RESOLVED FURTHER THAT Mr. / Ms. (Name of the Officer), (Designation) be and is hereby authorised sign and submit the necessary application form along with all documents as may be required to be submitted to the (....name of the electricity company....) for disconnection of the above mentioned electricity connection, and also authorised to take all such steps and do all such acts, deeds and things as may be necessary or incidental thereto.

RESOLVED FURTHER THAT Mr. / Ms. (Name of the Officer), (Designation) be and is hereby authorised to sign and forward a true copy of the foregoing resolution to (....name of the electricity company....) in relation to the application for disconnection of the electricity connection.”

RESOLVED FURTHER THAT (Name of the Director / Officer / Employee), (Designation) and (Name of the Director / Officer / Employee), (Designation) be and are hereby severally authorised sign and submit the necessary application form along with all documents as may be required to be submitted to the (Name of the Electricity Board) for disconnection of the said electricity connection, and to do all such acts, deeds and take all such steps as may be necessary in this regard.”
